Queensland’s Mental Health Commissioner today congratulated Toowoomba social innovator Luke Terry on being awarded a scholarship to Harvard Business School.
“Luke is an innovator, a leader and someone whose entrepreneurial spark triggers better outcomes for people who need a hand,” Mental Health Commissioner Dr Lesley van Schoubroeck said.
Mr Terry was awarded the scholarship from Social Ventures Australia to attend an executive education course in non-profit management at Harvard later this year.
Mr Terry is Executive Director of Toowoomba Clubhouse and a member of the Queensland Mental Health and Drug Advisory Council.
He leads a variety of projects focused on social inclusion, housing, employment, education and healthy living.
Dr van Schoubroeck said: “This scholarship demonstrates the strength of leadership we have in the non-government mental health, drug and alcohol sector, and in regional Queensland.
“I have no doubt that Luke will bring back some valuable insights and ideas that will benefit others, particularly those in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.
“I congratulate him on achieving this recognition. I look forward to hearing his observations and how these may be applied to improving the mental health and wellbeing of Queenslanders.”
