Queensland Mental Health Commission staff joined Red Frogs Australia on the Gold Coast during Schoolies activities in November.
QMHC Systems Planning and Response Director Bretine Curtis and Communication and Engagement Director Carolyn Varley joined Red Frogs founder, director and “Boss Frog” Andy Gourley to learn about the work his large team of dedicated volunteers does to support the physical and mental health and wellbeing of young school leavers.
The Red Frogs Gold Coast call centre took more than 7200 calls during Schoolies, and volunteers helped 1560 young people walk home safely, and cooked pancakes in 2873 hotel rooms.
The QMHC team also met staff and volunteers from a range of government and non-government organisations that join forces to ensure Schoolies celebrations are as safe and enjoyable as possible.
