The Commission has made a final submission to the National Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Mental Health, following the release of the draft report.
This landmark inquiry is an opportunity for true reform to improve the lives of all Australians, especially those experiencing mental health challenges.
Our submission highlights four key areas that could strengthen the final report, particularly in relation to:
- lived experience engagement
- person-centred approaches
- community-based supports
- investment in prevention and early intervention.
In addition, the Commission has contributed to a joint submission by the national, state and territory mental health commissions on governance arrangements for the National Mental Health Commission.
We look forward to the Productivity Commission’s final report and, more importantly, to its implementation.
