Productivity Commissioners Stephen King and Julie Abramson visited Brisbane and Rockhampton for public consultations around the draft mental health inquiry report released on 31 October 2019.
The QMHC took the opportunity to arrange further meetings between the Productivity Commission and Queensland Government officials, the Queensland Mental Health and Drug Advisory Council and other stakeholders.
Many of the areas identified for reform are consistent with the Shifting minds: Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategic Plan 2018-2023.
The QMHC will make a submission in response to the draft report, building on our initial submission and highlighting key areas for further consideration.
This is a landmark inquiry and an opportunity to drive reform to improve the lives of all Australians, but particularly those with mental health challenges.
Feedback submissions on the draft report can be made by 23 January 2020.
