Queensland took a significant first step towards treaty in Cairns on 17 October, with the start of statewide public consultation.
A total of 26 consultation sessions will be held across the state, and every Queenslander can have a say about treaty with First Nations peoples, what it means and how it could look.
The aim of the treaty process is to help deliver greater self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, stimulating local economies, creating jobs and delivering improved housing and health outcomes.
Visit the DATSIP website for more information about the Path to Treaty and community consultation sessions happening across the State in November and early December..
