The Queensland Mental Health Commission congratulates Emeritus Professor Susan Spence who was yesterday named an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her dedication to researching the prevention and treatment of mental health issues and anxiety in young people.
The Australia Day honour shines a light on youth mental health issues and the valuable contribution of leading Queensland researchers and professionals.
Professor Spence is a founder of the BRAVE program - a free, online program for the management of anxiety in children and young people.
She is also an Emeritus Professor in the School of Applied Psychology and Australian Institute of Suicide Research and Prevention at Griffith University.
Her research interests lie in the causes, assessment, prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression in young people.
