Submission to the Inquiry into the health impacts of alcohol and other drugs in Australia
The Commission recently made a submission to the Commonwealth Inquiry into the health impacts of alcohol and other drugs in Australia. The Commission provided evidence to support a range of approaches that will improve equity of access to alcohol and other drug services for specific populations and presented evidence-based policies and initiatives that are proven to reduce alcohol and other drug related harm. Addressing stigma and engagement of people with a lived and living experience were also identified as key strategies to improve the effectiveness of programs and initiatives. The importance of coordinated commitment and action across sectors beyond health was also highlighted as crucial to reducing alcohol and other drug related harm.
